Coronavirus

Update 16/03/2020

We have been regularly monitoring the Government advice, along with that of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and also the CofE.

In light of the latest government advice to ‘avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues’ we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to cancel ALL church activities, including our Sunday Services and the AGM/Members Meeting until further notice.

We are currently working out how to produce material for your encouragement and spiritual nourishment via videos which will be linked to our church website. If possible, we will produce something on a daily basis.

We at Pershore Baptist Church are alert to the threat of Coronavirus. Whilst we don’t want to over-react, neither must we be complacent. Being vigilant about best hygiene practice at this time is one way of fulfilling our vision of LOVE IN ACTION, particularly, loving others. We remember that we have friends in our church family who are vulnerable to illness, therefore:

Everyone. All of us have both a personal and shared responsibility to follow public health instructions and advice from the UK Government/Public Health England

Greeting One Another. Our welcome team will not offer to shake your hand presently, and we encourage you not to offer a handshake either. Please don’t be offended when people won’t shake your hands. Instead, why not try a new greeting, such as an elbow tag!

Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.  Sometimes, the best actions are the most simple.  Always sneeze into a tissue or your upper arm. (Never into your hands.)

Hand-washing. Frequent and thorough hand-washing throughout the day is vital. Each time, wash/scrub for 20 seconds – long enough to recite the Lord’s Prayer!

Activities & Services. We are currently reviewing our church activites and services, some have already been calcelled or postponed, we are monitoring the current situation and may need to cancel events last minute, please keep on eye on the website for up-to date information.

Self-isolation. If you are required to self-isolate we want to try and help and support you as much as we can.  Please complete the attached form so that we know what help you require... 'How can we help you form'

If you are concerned you may have flu-like or coronavirus symptoms – or have recently returned from a ‘high risk’ area – go to https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 . Alternatively, call 111. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital unless directed to do so by a medical professional.

This will be an anxious time for many people.  We pray, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” Colossians 3:15
